Department of Defense Wage Committee; Notice of Closed Meetings

Pursuant to the provisions of section 10 of Public Law 92-463, the
Federal Advisory Committee Act, notice is hereby given that a meeting
of the Department of Defense Wage Committee will be held on Tuesday,
February 1, 1994; Tuesday, February 8, 1994; Tuesday, February 15,
1994; and Tuesday, February 22, 1994, at 2 p.m. in room 800, Hoffman
Building #1, Alexandria Virginia.
The Committee's primary responsibility is to consider and submit
recommendations to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Personnel and
Readiness) concerning all matters involved in the development and
authorization of wage schedules for federal prevailing rate employees
pursuant to Public Law 92-392. At this meeting, the Committee will
consider wage survey specifications, wage survey data, local wage
survey committee reports and recommendations, and wage schedules
derived therefrom.
Under the provisions of section 10(d) of Public Law 92-463,
meetings may be closed to the public when they are ``concerned with
matters listed in 5 U.S.C. 552b.'' Two of the matters so listed are
those ``related solely to the internal personnel rules and practices of
an agency,'' (5 U.S.C. 552b.(c)(2)), and those involving ``trade
secrets and commercial or financial information obtained from a person
and privileged or confidential'' (5 U.S.C. 552b.(c)(4)).
Accordingly, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Civilian
Personnel Policy/Equal Opportunity) hereby determines that all portions
of the meeting will be closed to the public because the matters
considered are related to the internal rules and practices of the
Department of Defense (5 U.S.C. 552b.(c)(2)), and the detailed wage
data considered were obtained from officials of private establishments
with a guarantee that the data will be held in confidence (5 U.S.C.
552b(c)(4)).
However, members of the public who may wish to do so are invited to
submit material in writing to the chairman concerning matters believed
to be deserving of the Committee's attention.
Additional information concerning this meeting may be obtained by
writing the Chairman, Department of Defense Wage Committee, room 3D264,
The Pentagon, Washington, DC. 20310.

    Dated: January 3, 1994.
