SAME DAY CONSIDERATION OF CERTAIN RESOLUTIONS REPORTED BY THE RULES

The Committee on Rules, having had under consideration
House Resolution 834, by a nonrecord vote, report the same to
the House with the recommendation that the resolution be
adopted.
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS OF THE RESOLUTION
The resolution waives clause 6(a) of rule XIII (requiring a
two-thirds vote to consider a rule on the same day it is
reported from the Rules Committee) against certain resolutions
reported from the Rules Committee. The rule applies the waiver
to any special rule reported on the legislative day of Friday,
October 8, 2004, providing for consideration or disposition of
a conference report to accompany the bill (H.R. 4567) making
appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security for the
fiscal year ending September 30, 2005, and for other purposes.
Resolution
Resolved, That the requirement of clause 6(a) of rule XIII
for a two-thirds vote to consider a report from the Committee
on Rules on the same day it is presented to the House is waived
with respect to any resolution reported on the legislative day
of October 8, 2004, providing for consideration or disposition
of a conference report to accompany the bill (H.R. 4567) making
appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security for the
fiscal year ending September 30, 2005, and for other purposes.
