                      Thursday, September 24, 2026

Mr. BILIRAKIS. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Mr. Jesse Diaz,
a WH Lineman with Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC), for
his dedicated service as part of WREC's second mission supporting the
Light Up Navajo Project. The Light Up Navajo initiative brings skilled
utility professionals together in service to Navajo families who have
lived without electricity for generations. Mr. Diaz volunteered his
expertise as a lineman and helped undertake the challenging work
required to extend electrical service to families in need. The results
of this work can transform everyday life. Electricity means children
can study after dark, families can safely preserve food and medicine,
and elders can live with greater comfort and security. It brings
connection, opportunity, and greater independence to the families who
receive it. Mr. Diaz's willingness to use his professional skills in
service to people far from his own community reflects tremendous
character. His contribution exemplifies WREC's commitment to service
and the cooperative principle that neighbors help neighbors wherever
the need may be.
I commend Mr. Jesse Diaz for his skill, dedication, and compassion.
His service to the Light Up Navajo mission reflects great credit upon
WREC and our entire community.
