HONORING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF SCHOOLEY'S MOUNTAIN FIRE CO.
______
HON. THOMAS H. KEAN, JR.
of new jersey
in the house of representatives
Thursday, August 13, 2026
Mr. KEAN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Schooley's Mountain
Fire Company in
[[Page E787]]
Washington Township, New Jersey as it celebrates its 75th anniversary,
an extraordinary milestone honoring many years of service, dedication
and community for the people of Washington Township.
The Company was established in August 1951, with the purpose of
protecting Schooley's Mountain and surrounding areas in the event of a
fire. Since that moment 75 years ago, Schooley's Mountain Fire
Company's message and credibility as a local public service have never
waned. They have remained true to their purpose, at the heart of
everything they do: to protect life and property for all in the
community.
The Company was formally a part of the Washington Township Fire
Department in 1984, along with the Long Valley Fire and Fairmount Fire
Companies. What started as a small village association for fire
protection, has now become an official fire company for more than
17,000 residents
Two of the company's defining principles have remained constant
throughout its history: the belief that the Washington Township
community will always have access to quality fire protection, and the
confidence that dedicated residents will continue to volunteer in
support of that mission. Their steadfast participation in community
fire safety education, fundraising, and 24-hour response proves their
continuous devotion to the safety of Washington Township and the
surrounding areas.
Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in commemorating
Schooley's Mountain Fire Company. We extend our warmest congratulations
to its members on this momentous occasion and celebrate the strength
and spirit that define this vital community organization.
