Telecommunications and Media concluded a hearing to examine intelligent 
networks, focusing on powering artificial intelligence and transforming 
communications, after receiving testimony from Dan Watermeier, Nebraska 
Public Service Commission, Lincoln; Jonathan Spalter, USTelecom--The 
Broadband Association, Washington, D.C.; Bob Everson, Cisco Systems, 
Inc., Richardson, Texas; and Asad Ramzanali, Vanderbilt Policy 
Accelerator, Nashville, Tennessee.
TAXPAYER ASSISTANCE AND SERVICE ACT
Committee on Finance: Committee ordered favorably reported an original 
bill entitled, ``Taxpayer Assistance and Service Act''.
NOMINATIONS
Committee on Foreign Relations: Committee concluded a hearing to 
examine the nominations of Sarah B. Rogers, of New York, to be Chief 
Executive Officer of the United States Agency for Global Media, who was 
introduced by Senator Cruz, Rebekah Jurata, of California, to be United 
States Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, and 
Jennifer Johnson-Carroll, of Florida, to be Ambassador to the Republic 
of Trinidad and Tobago, Department of State, after the nominees 
testified and answered questions in their own behalf.
BUSINESS MEETING
Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions: Committee ordered 
favorably the following business items:
  S. 5046, to prohibit the transfer of certain offices and functions of 
the Department of Education to other Federal agencies, with an 
amendment;
  S. 2511, to establish a postsecondary student data system, with an 
amendment in the nature of a substitute;
  S. 3010, to amend the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to 
improve provisions relating to dyslexia;
  S. 3589, to amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to provide 
students with disabilities and their families with access to critical 
information needed to select the right college and succeed once 
enrolled, with an amendment in the nature of a substitute;
  S. 4097, to establish that a State-based education loan program is 
excluded from certain requirements relating to a preferred lender 
arrangement, with an amendment in the nature of a substitute;
  S. 4689, to strengthen literacy outcomes for all students, to amend 
the comprehensive literacy State development grant program, and to 
ensure Federal accountability and investment in research, teacher 
preparation, and evidence-based instruction aligned with the science of 
reading, with an amendment in the nature of a substitute;
  S. 3333, to modify the eligibility requirements and account 
contribution maximum for pension-linked emergency savings accounts, 
with an amendment in the nature of a substitute;
  S. 4965, to amend the Railroad Retirement Act of 1974 to establish a 
Railroad Retirement Board Administrative Account, with an amendment in 
the nature of a substitute;
  S. 3097, to provide additional protections with respect to health 
information, with an amendment in the nature of a substitute; and
  The nominations of Erica Schwartz, of Florida, to be Director of the 
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Sean Kaufman, of Georgia,
