                    REMEMBERING BARBARA JOAN SALKIN

Mr. VAN HOLLEN. Mr. President, I rise today to pay tribute to
the amazing life and legacy of Ms. Barbara Salkin, who passed recently
at age 94. Ms. Salkin was a leader, organizer, and friend to all, and
she leaves behind a resounding tradition of unity, mentorship, and
civic engagement.

Ms. Salkin was a true believer in the power of community and
graciously dedicated her time, her knowledge, and her boundless energy
into supporting and developing her own. She was an inextricable part of
Montgomery County, MD, and her impact will remain woven into the fabric
of its history. She used her unmatched understanding of the county to
mentor generations of local and State leaders, investing in a brighter
future for us all.
Above all, Ms. Salkin was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-
grandmother, and friend. She blessed every person she encountered with
the gift of her kindness, and I am grateful to have been one of those
people. The outpouring of love since her passing is a testament to the
impact she has had on so many.
I invite my colleagues to join me in offering appreciation and
condolences to Ms. Salkin's children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren, and in honoring her tremendous legacy.
