ANNIVERSARY OF OVERTURNING ROE V. WADE
(Mr. LATIMER asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. LATIMER. Mr. Speaker, I rise today, 4 years after the overturning
of Roe v. Wade, to bring to light the devastating impact that the
Supreme Court's Dobbs decision has had on our country.
Since Dobbs, government interference in what should be a decision
between doctor and patient has led physicians to hesitate, delaying
patients from receiving the care they require.
Centers that provide preventative and lifesaving reproductive
services have been shuttered. In the wake of Dobbs, laws have caused
women to experience unnecessary complications sometimes leading to
their death.
I cannot fathom being forced to make a life-or-death decision because
of what politicians and courts have decided rather than the advice of
medical experts.
On this anniversary, I urge my colleagues to join me in demanding
better for my constituents by acting to protect access to reproductive
care.
Every moment we wait is a moment too long.
