  SA 5457. Mr. COONS submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by 
him to the bill S. 2, to provide for reconciliation pursuant to title 
II of S. Con. Res. 33; which was ordered to lie on the table; as 
follows:

       At the appropriate place, insert the following:

     SEC. _____. PROHIBITION ON DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE FROM USING 
                   TAXPAYER FUNDS TO MAKE SETTLEMENT PAYMENTS TO 
                   INDIVIDUALS CONVICTED OF ASSAULTING LAW 
                   ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ON JANUARY 6, 2021.

       The Department of Justice may not use taxpayer funds to 
     make settlement payments to individuals convicted of 
     assaulting law enforcement officers at or around the United 
     States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
