APPROPRIATIONS: DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS
Committee on Appropriations: Subcommittee on Military Construction, 
Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies concluded a hearing to examine 
proposed budget estimates and justification for fiscal year 2027 for 
the Department of Veterans Affairs, after receiving testimony from 
Douglas A. Collins, Secretary, and Richard F. Topping, Assistant 
Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer, both of the 
Department of Veterans Affairs.
APPROPRIATIONS: FOREST SERVICE
Committee on Appropriations: Subcommittee on Department of Interior, 
Environment, and Related Agencies concluded a hearing to examine 
proposed budget estimates and justification for fiscal year 2027 for 
the Forest Service, after receiving testimony from Tom Schultz, Chief, 
Forest Service, Department of Agriculture.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE BUDGET
Committee on Armed Services: Committee concluded open and closed 
hearings to examine the Department of Defense budget request for Fiscal 
Year 2027 and the Future Years Defense Program, after receiving 
testimony from Peter B. Hegseth, Secretary, Jules W. Hurst III, 
performing the duties of the Under Secretary (Comptroller)/Chief 
Financial Officer, and General Dan Caine, USAF, Chairman of the Joint 
Chiefs of Staff, all of the Department of Defense.
BUSINESS MEETING
Committee on Foreign Relations: Committee ordered favorably reported 
the nominations of John Breslow, of Arizona, to be Ambassador to the 
Republic of Cyprus, Fleet White, of Virginia, to be an Assistant 
Secretary of State (Political-Military Affairs), Todd Steggerda, of 
Virginia, to be Representative to the Office of the United Nations and 
Other International Organizations in Geneva, with the rank of 
Ambassador, Preston Wells Griffith III, of Virginia, to be 
Representative to the Vienna Office of the United Nations, with the 
rank of Ambassador and to

be Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, with the 
rank of Ambassador, and Adam Cassady, of Virginia, to be Ambassador at 
Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy.
BALTIC SEA
Committee on Foreign Relations: Committee concluded a hearing to 
examine the Baltic Sea, focusing on implications for European Security 
and lessons from the Indo-Pacific, after receiving testimony from 
Benjamin L. Schmitt, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; and 
James C. O'Brien, European Council on Foreign Relations, Washington, 
DC.

Committee on the Judiciary: Committee ordered favorably reported the 
following business items:
  S. 1572, to amend title 18, United States Code, to improve the 
Federal carjacking statute, with an amendment in the nature of a 
substitute;
  S. 3062, to require artificial intelligence chatbots to implement age 
verification measures and make certain disclosures, with an amendment 
in the nature of a substitute; and
  The nominations of Sheria Akins Clarke, to be United States District 
Judge for the District of South Carolina, Kathleen S. Lane, to be 
United States District Judge for the District of Montana, Evan Rikhye, 
to be Judge for the District Court of the Virgin Islands, Kara Marie 
Westercamp, of Virginia, to be a Judge of the United States Court of 
International Trade, Kenneth Sorenson, to be United States Attorney for 
the District of Hawaii, and Johnson TeeHee II, to be United States
