               MOMENT OF SILENCE HONORING SORFFLY DAVIUS

  (Mr. LAWLER asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 
minute.)
  Mr. LAWLER. Mr. Speaker, I rise today with a heavy heart to honor the 
life of Major Sorffly Davius, a true American hero who passed away 
following a medical episode while deployed to Kuwait in support of 
Operation Epic Fury.
  For those of us in Rockland County, Major Davius wasn't just a name 
in uniform. He was part of our community. He was a neighbor, a friend, 
someone people knew and respected.
  Here at home, he wore a different uniform with the same sense of 
purpose, serving with the NYPD 79th Precinct, protecting his fellow New 
Yorkers with honor and integrity. That kind of commitment, to serve 
both country and community is rare, and it speaks to the kind of man he 
was.
  He served our Nation with distinction in the United States Army 
National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division, rising to the rank of major 
through years of dedication and leadership. He answered the call to 
serve overseas without hesitation, putting duty to the country above 
all else.
  But what stands out most is who he was beyond the uniform: a devoted 
husband, a loving father of six, the kind of man who showed up for his 
family, who led by example, and who understood that service starts at 
home.
  As we remember Major Davius, let us keep his wife, Angeline; his 
children; his family; and his brothers and sisters in uniform in our 
prayers. Let us honor his legacy not just in words but by living with 
the same sense of duty and courage and selflessness that he showed 
every single day.
  Mr. Speaker, I yield to the gentleman from New York (Mr. Meeks), the 
ranking member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.
  Mr. MEEKS. Mr. Speaker, today, and every day since his passing, we 
mourn the loss of a true public servant, an NYPD officer, a major in 
the United States Army National Guard, Sorffly Davius, an American hero 
who dedicated his life to serving people at home and abroad.
  Before moving to Rockland, he was a Queens native, served New York 
City with honor as a member of the NYPD while also answering the call 
to serve our Nation overseas with the Army National Guard.
  He was a devoted husband, a father, a man whose life reflected 
extraordinary commitment to his family and his country.
  His sacrifice reminds us of the quiet strength of those who serve not 
for themselves but out of duty and love for the American people.
  As we grieve his profound loss, we stand with his family, his fellow 
servicemembers in uniform, and all those who were touched by his life.
  May we take this moment of silence not only to honor his legacy but 
to dedicate ourselves to the values he lived by: service, integrity, 
and unwavering commitment to the United States of America.
  May God bless his soul.

and the 17th Congressional District and on behalf of the people of New 
York City and Queens and the NYPD, please honor Major Sorffly Davius 
with a moment of silence.
