CONGRESS' BETRAYAL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

(Ms. MORRISON asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend her remarks.)
Ms. MORRISON. Mr. Speaker, today I rise to call out this body's
betrayal of the American people.
The same week we learned that the Trump administration spent more
than $11.3 billion on the first 6 days of the war in Iran alone, a
survey found that one in three Americans are skipping meals, rationing
medications, and delaying buying a home or having children because of
the cost of healthcare in this country.
The United States of America is the richest country in the world.
These are not decisions people should have to make, but they are the
decisions people are being forced to make because the unchecked party
in power is prioritizing spending billions of dollars on dropping bombs
in foreign wars that no one asked for instead of doing anything to make
life better or more affordable here at home.
In the richest country in the history of the world, Mr. Speaker, you
should be able to afford to eat, to have kids, to have housing, and to
get healthcare.
The people deserve a Congress who will fight for them.
