                             END HUNGER NOW

(Mr. McGOVERN asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. McGOVERN. Mr. Speaker, local grocers play a pivotal role in
improving access to nutritious food. That is why I joined my dear
friend and colleague, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, and State and
local leaders on a visit to El Valle de la Sultana Market in Everett,
Massachusetts, last Friday as part of my statewide End Hunger Now Tour.
Victor and Martha Gutierrez and Audriana Perdomo own La Sultana
markets, which have been providing cultural staples to the people of
Everett, east Boston, and Somerville for 30 years. We visited the
newest location in Everett, which was stocked with delicious and
culturally appropriate foods like fresh produce and meat and heard
directly from people who shop at the store for groceries.
Their message was loud and clear. Skyrocketing food prices and cuts
to SNAP are impacting their ability to feed their families. Their
powerful stories provide me further motivation to fight Trump policies
that are driving up the cost of food and to once and for all end hunger
now.
