                             END HUNGER NOW

  (Mr. McGOVERN asked and was given permission to address the House for 
1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
  Mr. McGOVERN. Mr. Speaker, after months of delay, the Trump 
administration finally released an annual food security survey, which 
confirms what we know to be true: Hunger is increasing in this country.
  Nearly 48 million Americans, including 14 million children, in the 
richest country in the history of the world, are food insecure, meaning 
that they lack the money and resources to acquire adequate food to feed 
their families. Those are moms, dads, grandparents, and kids who are 
unable to consistently access the most basic necessity: food.
  Mr. Speaker, it is no wonder that the Trump administration has 
unilaterally canceled all future food security reports. They know that 
their big, ugly bill and Trump's terrible economy are going to cause 
food insecurity to skyrocket, and they are desperate to hide the data 
from the American people.
  Mr. Speaker, I am here to say that Democrats in Congress are not 
going to stand by while Trump tears apart basic needs programs. We will 
continue calling attention to the increase in hunger caused by this 
administration and their Republican allies in Congress, and we will 
always fight for a future when we finally end hunger now.
