                       Tuesday, October 21, 2025

Mr. CARSON. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the extraordinary
ministry and lifelong service of Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr., as he
retires from his role as Senior Pastor of Eastern Star Church in
Indianapolis, Indiana after more than 35 years of faithful leadership.
An Indianapolis native, Pastor Johnson accepted his call to ministry
at 17 and has remained steadfast in his commitment to God, community,
and service. Lady Sharon Johnson, and their four sons have been
instrumental in his success, and together they have formed a
cornerstone of spiritual life in Indianapolis. Pastor Johnson's impact
reaches far beyond the pulpit--he is a preacher, a teacher, builder,
and visionary. Since becoming Senior Pastor in 1988 at just 25 years
old, he has guided Eastern Star Church through unprecedented growth,
transforming it into one of our Nation's most influential
congregations. Under his leadership, the church expanded to three
campuses and now serves over 17,000 members through more than 30 active
ministries.
Through Kingdom Word Ministries, Pastor Johnson has authored books,
mentored leaders, and shared the Gospel nationally and globally. His
preaching--known for its depth, clarity, and passion, earned him honors
such as ``Best Pulpiteer'' by the Black Christian News Network.
Pastor Johnson has always embraced both the personal and social
gospel. Under his guidance, Eastern Star Church built a school,
launched church plants, supported families in need, and served as a
voice for justice and hope in Indiana and beyond. As he begins a new
chapter, Pastor Johnson will continue serving as ``Legacy Pastor,'' a
title honoring his lasting influence.
Mr. Speaker, I ask my colleagues to join me in celebrating the
remarkable contributions of Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr.--a man of
vision, conviction, and compassion. May his continued journey in faith
and leadership inspire generations to come.
