  SA 3605. Mr. HICKENLOOPER submitted an amendment intended to be 
proposed by him to the bill S. 2296, to authorize appropriations for 
fiscal year 2026 for military activities of the Department of Defense, 
for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department 
of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal 
year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as 
follows:

       At the appropriate place in title X, insert the following:

     SEC. 10__. REQUIREMENT FOR VETERANS BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION 
                   TO COLLECT INFORMATION REGARDING APPLICATIONS 
                   FOR AND RECEIPT OF BENEFITS BY SURVIVING 
                   SPOUSES AND DEPENDENTS OF VETERANS WHO DIE BY 
                   SUICIDE.

       The Under Secretary for Benefits shall, in coordination 
     with the Under Secretary for Health, take such actions as may 
     be necessary to collect accurate data in order to determine 
     the rate of applications for and receipt of benefits by 
     surviving spouses and dependents of veterans who die by 
     suicide.
