SA 3138. Mr. GALLEGO submitted an amendment intended to be proposed
by him to the bill S. 2296, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year
2026 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military
construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy,
to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for
other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the end of subtitle F of title X, add the following:
SEC. 1067. RESEARCH ON INNOVATIVE THERAPIES FOR VETERANS.
(a) In General.--The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall
conduct research on innovative therapies, including MDMA,
ibogaine, ketamine, and psilocybin, to treat anxiety, bipolar
disorder, chronic pain, depression, Parkinson's disease,
post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorder
among veterans.
(b) Report.--Not later than one year after the date of the
enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to Congress
a report containing any findings or recommendations of the
Secretary on improving the delivery of innovative therapies
to veterans.
