SA 3050. Mr. HEINRICH submitted an amendment intended to be proposed
by him to the bill S. 2296, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year
2026 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military
construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy,
to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for
other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the end of subtitle B of title VII, add the following:
SEC. 718. REIMBURSEMENT FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES RELATING TO
SPECIALTY CARE FOR CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE ARMED
FORCES AND DEPENDENTS.
Section 1074i of title 10, United States Code, is amended--
(1) in subsection (a), by striking ``In any case'' and
inserting ``Except as provided in subsection (b), in any
case''; and
(2) in subsection (b)--
(A) by striking the heading and inserting ``Special Rules
for Certain Members and Dependents.--'';
(B) by striking ``The Secretary of Defense'' and inserting
``(1) The Secretary of Defense''; and
(C) by adding at the end the following new paragraph:
``(2) With respect to members of the armed forces on active
duty and their dependents, the Secretary shall administer
subsection (a) by substituting `50 miles' for `100 miles'.''.
