DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2026

                                 ______

                               speech of

                            HON. BRYAN STEIL

                              of wisconsin

                    in the house of representatives

                        Wednesday, July 16, 2025

Mr. STEIL. Mr. Chair, I rise today in support of my amendment to the
Fiscal Year 2026 Defense Appropriations Act, which provides $10 million
to the Army's Long Range Precision Fires Technology Program, or LRPF,
for testing and demonstration of advanced-caliber munitions.
The LRPF program develops technologies to neutralize and suppress
enemy forces with artillery and missile fire.
My amendment No. 272, included in Bipartisan En Bloc No. 2, will
ensure the Army has additional funds to meet its LRPF Modernization
Priority. This enables the Army to continue working with private-sector
partners to advance our artillery and missile technology and address
current shortfalls of the LRPF program.
Modernization of the LRPF program will advance technologies, expand
military capabilities, and help prevent munitions stockpile shortages.
I urge my colleagues to support this amendment.
