SA 2760. Mr. MARSHALL submitted an amendment intended to be proposed
to amendment SA 2360 proposed by Mr. Thune (for Mr. Graham) to the bill
H.R. 1, to provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of H. Con.
Res. 14; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the appropriate place, insert the following:
SEC. ___. PROHIBITING THE USE OF FEDERAL MEDICAID AND CHIP
FUNDS TO PAY FOR GENDER TRANSITION PROCEDURES.
(a) Medicaid.--Section 1903(i) of the Social Security Act
(42 U.S.C. 1396b(i)) is amended--
(1) in paragraph (26), by striking ``; or'' and inserting a
semicolon;
(2) in paragraph (27), by striking the period at the end
and inserting ``; or'';
(3) by inserting after paragraph (27) the following new
paragraph:
``(28) with respect to any amount expended with respect to
any medical intervention provided to a child under the age of
18 for the treatment of gender dysphoria that could result in
sterilization.''; and
(4) in the flush left matter at the end, by striking ``and
(18),'' and inserting ``(18), and (28)''.
(b) CHIP.--Section 2107(e)(1)(O) of the Social Security Act
(42 U.S.C. 1397gg(e)(1)(O)), as redesignated by section
71103(b)(1)(A), is amended by striking ``and (17)'' and
inserting ``(17), and (28)''.
