                                 PRAYER

The Chaplain, the Reverend Margaret Grun Kibben, offered the
following prayer:
Blessed are those who fear You, O Lord, and walk in Your ways. We
pray Your blessings on this day, but it is too often not You we fear
but the multitude of challenges that confront us.
Whether our anxiety is for things political or personal, changes
environmental or emotional, upheaval suppositional or spiritual, we too
often find the uncertainty of our days has eclipsed our ability to
acknowledge or appreciate Your power and authority over every aspect of
our lives.
Teach us then to walk in Your ways, to affirm Your majesty over every
aspect of our lives. Would that we allow, within our own spirits, Your
Holiness to transform the hostility, Your kindness every cruelty, Your
love every malevolence.
Blessed are those who fear the Lord. May this day and all the days of
our lives receive Your blessing that the work of our hands may prosper.
In Your merciful name, we pray.
  Amen.
