THANKING OFFICERS FOR THEIR SERVICE
(Mr. BEAN of Florida asked and was given permission to address the
House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. BEAN of Florida. Mr. Speaker, as the song goes, if there is
something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call? If there is
something weird and it don't look good, who you gonna call?
Mr. Speaker, don't call Ghostbusters. Call the police.
Mr. Speaker, I rise during National Police Week to salute the brave
patriots who keep America safe. I want to share my appreciation to
members of our law enforcement community--our officers, deputies, and
troopers, and especially the families of those law enforcement officers
who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and
protection of others.
It takes courage to wear a badge. It takes even more courage to
respond to an emergency, to step into harm's way, to face dangerous
uncertainty. For our police, it is just part of the job.
Unfortunately, our law enforcement community doesn't get the
recognition and the respect that they deserve. So on behalf of a
grateful nation, I want to say two words our incredibly brave patriots
don't hear enough: Thank you. I thank them for protecting our families
and communities. I thank them for their service.
As Representative for Florida's Fourth Congressional District, I want
our law enforcement officers to know we salute them. We will always
back the blue.
