  SA 968. Mrs. GILLIBRAND submitted an amendment intended to be 
proposed by her to the bill S. 2226, to authorize appropriations for 
fiscal year 2024 for military activities of the Department of Defense, 
for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department 
of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal 
year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as 
follows:

       At the end of subtitle A of title VI, add the following:

     SEC. 612. LODGING EXPENSES FOR DEPENDENTS OF MEMBERS 
                   SEPARATED FOR DEPENDENT ABUSE.

       Section 1059 of title 10, United States Code, is amended--
       (1) in the heading, by inserting ``; lodging expenses'' at 
     the end;
       (2) by redesignating subsections (k), (l), and (m) as 
     subsections (m), (n), and (l), respectively;
       (3) by striking ``subsection (k)'' each place it appears 
     and inserting ``subsection (m)''; and
       (4) by inserting after subsection (j) the following new 
     subsection:
       ``(k) Lodging Expenses.--A dependent or former dependent 
     entitled to payment of monthly transitional compensation 
     under this section shall, while receiving payments in 
     accordance with this section, be entitled to lodging expenses 
     for a period not longer than 30 days.''.
