Mr. GALLAGHER. Madam Speaker, l rise here today to honor the life and
legacy of a truly honorable and remarkable man, Sean P. Leahy.
United States Marine Corps Major Sean Leahy was an incredible Marine,
father, husband, and son. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut to his
loving parents Tom and Laura. Sean would eventually head to University
of Wisconsin Stevens Point where he was a hockey standout. Sean had a
clear love for hockey and his country which ultimately led to him
joining the United States Marine Corps. Sean was also a beloved
teammate, respected team captain, and an energetic youth coach. His
players and teammates had the utmost respect for him on and off the
ice. Leadership was in Sean's blood, and he led on the hockey rink and
on the battlefield with his fellow Marines. Sean followed in the
footsteps of his father and grandfather when he proudly signed up to
serve and protect his country. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom,
Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Allies Welcome. The Marines
that knew him well described him as a lion of a Marine and his Marines
were part of his family. l commend Sean for his unwavering service to
the United States of America.
Throughout Sean's incredible life, he lived all across the United
States and traveled all over the world. He ultimately settled down in
Northeast Wisconsin after meeting the love of his life, Meghan, when
his family moved to Port Edwards, Wisconsin. Sean's love for his wife,
and their sons Ryan and Zack, is simply unparalleled. Sean was a truly
remarkable public servant, leader, Marine, and most importantly
husband, father, and son. Sean left a mark on all those he interacted
with in life and our entire community will miss his presence.
Madam Speaker, today l ask for this body to join me in honoring the
life and legacy of a remarkable man and soldier, Major Sean Leahy. The
people of Northeastern Wisconsin thank Sean for his leadership on and
off the battlefield, along with his kindness and dedication to his
family, friends, and the United States. My thoughts and prayers go out
to his wife, Meghan, their sons, his friends, family, and all of the
lives he touched throughout his life. Semper Fi.
