  SA 1672. Mr. LEE submitted an amendment intended to be proposed to 
amendment SA 1502 proposed by Mr. Schumer to the bill S. 1260, to 
establish a new Directorate for Technology and Innovation in the 
National Science Foundation, to establish a regional technology hub 
program, to require a strategy and report on economic security, 
science, research, innovation, manufacturing, and job creation, to 
establish a critical supply chain resiliency program, and for other 
purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:

       In section 6105(a), strike ``to assess the extent to which 
     the Department'' and all that follows through the period at 
     the end and insert the following: ``to assess--
       (1) the extent to which the Department of Health and Human 
     Services (referred to in this section as the ``Department'') 
     utilizes or provides funding to entities that utilize such 
     funds for human genomic sequencing services or genetic 
     services (as such term is defined in section 201(6) of the 
     Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (42 U.S.C. 
     2000ff(6))) provided by entities, or subsidiaries of such 
     entities, organized under the laws of a country or countries 
     of concern, in the estimation of the Director of National 
     Intelligence or the head of another Federal department or 
     agency, as appropriate; and
       (2) the purpose and intentions of human genomic sequencing 
     services or genetic services as it relates to each 
     organization receiving Federal funds.
