Mr. KAINE. Madam President, I ask unanimous consent that the
Committee on Environment and Public Works be discharged and the Senate
proceed to the following nomination: PN 267, the nomination of Gayle
Manchin, to be Federal Cochairman of the Appalachian Regional
Commission.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
The clerk will report the nomination.
The senior assistant legislative clerk read the nomination of Gayle
C. Manchin, of West Virginia, to be Federal Cochairman of the
Appalachian Regional Commission.
There being no objection, the committee was discharged and the Senate
proceeded to consider the nomination.
Mr. KAINE. I know of no further debate.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. If there is no further debate, the question
is, Will the Senate advise and consent to the Manchin nomination?
  The nomination was confirmed.
Mr. KAINE. Madam President, I ask unanimous consent that the motion
to reconsider be considered made and laid upon the table with no
intervening action or debate; that no further motions be in order to
the nomination; that any statements related to the nomination be
printed in the Record; that the President be immediately notified of
the Senate's action and the Senate then resume legislative session.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
