 EXPRESSING THANKS TO THE HONORABLE CHUCK GRASSLEY FOR HIS SERVICE AS 
PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE AND DESIGNATING SENATOR GRASSLEY AS PRESIDENT PRO 
                            TEMPORE EMERITUS

  Mr. SCHUMER. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the Senate 
proceed to the consideration of S. Res. 7, submitted earlier today.
  The PRESIDENT pro tempore. The clerk will report the resolution by 
title.
  The legislative clerk read as follows:

       A resolution (S. Res. 7) expressing the thanks of the 
     Senate to the Honorable Chuck Grassley for his service as 
     President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate and to 
     designate Senator Grassley as President Pro Tempore Emeritus 
     of the United States Senate.

  There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the 
resolution.
  Mr. SCHUMER. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the 
resolution be agreed to and that the motion to reconsider be considered 
made and laid upon the table with no intervening action or debate.
  The PRESIDENT pro tempore. Without objection, it is so ordered.
  The resolution (S. Res. 7) was agreed to, as follows:

                               S. Res. 7

       Resolved, That the United States Senate expresses its 
     deepest gratitude to Senator Grassley for his dedication and 
     commitment during his service to the Senate as the President 
     Pro Tempore.
       Further, as a token of appreciation of the Senate for his 
     long and faithful service, Senator Chuck Grassley is hereby 
     designed President Pro Tempore Emeritus of the United States 
     Senate.
