                             CLOTURE MOTION

  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Pursuant to rule XXII, the Chair lays before 
the Senate the pending cloture motion, which the clerk will state.
  The senior assistant legislative clerk read as follows

       We, the undersigned Senators, in accordance with the 
     provisions of rule XXII of the Standing Rules of the Senate, 
     do hereby move to bring to a close debate on the nomination 
     of Benjamin Joel Beaton, of Kentucky, to be United States 
     District Judge for the Western District of Kentucky.
         Mitch McConnell, Mike Crapo, Tom Cotton, David Perdue, 
           Mike Rounds, Pat Roberts, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Kevin 
           Cramer, Lindsey Graham, Thom Tillis, Tim Scott, James

           Wicker, John Thune, John Boozman.

  The PRESIDING OFFICER. By unanimous consent, the mandatory quorum 
call has been waived.
  The question is, Is it the sense of the Senate that debate on 
Benjamin Joel Beaton, of Kentucky, to be United States District Judge 
for the Western District of Kentucky, shall be brought to a close?
  The yeas and nays are mandatory under the rule.

  Mr. THUNE. The following Senators are necessarily absent: the Senator 
from Tennessee (Mr. Alexander), the Senator from Iowa (Mr. Grassley), 
and the Senator from Florida (Mr. Scott).
  Further, if present and voting, the Senator from Tennessee (Mr. 
Alexander) would have voted ``yea,'' the Senator from Iowa (Mr. 
Grassley) would have voted ``yea,'' and the Senator from Florida (Mr. 
Scott) would have voted ``yea.''
