  SA 1382. Mr. DURBIN (for himself and Mr. Alexander) submitted an 
amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 2657, to 
support innovation in advanced geothermal research and development, and 
for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows:

        At the appropriate place, insert the following:

     SEC. __. OFFICE OF SCIENCE.

       Section 209 of the Department of Energy Organization Act 
     (42 U.S.C. 7139) is amended by adding at the end the 
     following:
       ``(d) Authorization of Appropriations.--There is authorized 
     to be appropriated to the Secretary to carry out the 
     functions of the Office of Science--
       ``(1) for fiscal year 2021, $7,500,000,000;
       ``(2) for fiscal year 2022, $8,000,000,000;
       ``(3) for fiscal year 2023, $8,600,000,000;
       ``(4) for fiscal year 2024, $9,200,000,000; and
       ``(5) for fiscal year 2025, $9,800,000,000.''.
