SA 188. Mr. CRUZ submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by
him to the bill S. 47, to provide for the management of the natural
resources of the United States, and for other purposes; which was
ordered to lie on the table; as follows:
At the end of subtitle B of title I, add the following:
SEC. 11____. IDENTIFICATION OF FEDERAL LAND SUITABLE FOR
DISPOSAL.
(a) Definitions.--In this section:
(1) Covered federal land.--
(A) In general.--The term ``covered Federal land'' means
any Federal land under the jurisdiction of the Secretary
concerned.
(B) Exclusion.--The term ``covered Federal land'' does not
include a unit of the National Park System.
(2) Secretary concerned.--In this section, the term
``Secretary concerned'' means--
(A) the Secretary of the Interior, with respect to land
under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of the Interior; and
(B) the Secretary of Agriculture, with respect to National
Forest System land.
(b) Survey of Federal Land.--As soon as practicable after
the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary concerned
shall complete a survey of covered Federal land to identify
any covered Federal land that is suitable for disposal by the
Secretary concerned by competitive sale.
(c) Report to Congress.--On completion of the survey under
subsection (b), the Secretary concerned shall submit to the
appropriate committees of Congress a report that--
(1) describes the results of the survey; and
(2) identifies at least 10 percent of the total acreage of
covered Federal land surveyed by the Secretary concerned that
is suitable for disposal by the Secretary concerned by
competitive sale.
