  SA 2834. Mr. GARDNER submitted an amendment intended to be proposed 
to amendment SA 2282 proposed by Mr. Inhofe (for himself and Mr. 
McCain) to the bill H.R. 5515, to authorize appropriations for fiscal 
year 2019 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for 
military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of 
Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, 
and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as 
follows:

       At the end of section 891, add the following:
       (f) Report Required.--
       (1) In general.--Not later than 180 days after the date of 
     the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Defense shall 
     submit to Congress a report on any continued use of covered 
     telecommunications equipment or services within the 
     Department of Defense that are used as a substantial or 
     essential component of any system, or as a critical 
     technology as part of any system. The report shall also 
     include the number of instances in which, pursuant to this 
     section, the Secretary terminates any use of or contract for 
     covered telecommunications equipment or services within the 
     Department of Defense that are used as a substantial or 
     essential component of any system, or as a critical 
     technology as part of any system.
       (2) Form.--The report shall be submitted in unclassified 
     form, but may include a classified annex.
