SUPPORT THE LIVE LIKE BELLA CHILDHOOD FOUNDATION
(Ms. ROS-LEHTINEN asked and was given permission to address the House
for 1 minute and to revise and extend her remarks.)
Ms. ROS-LEHTINEN. Mr. Speaker, as we observe Childhood Cancer
Awareness Month and shed light on the types of cancer that afflict
approximately 16,000 children every year, I would like to recognize the
work of the Live Like Bella Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Inspired by Bella Rodriguez-Torres--this sweet young girl--a young
girl who courageously fought cancer six times before her death in 2013,
this foundation supports the fight against pediatric cancer, while
offering much-needed support for families. This wonderful organization,
based in my home area of Miami, Florida, was established by Bella's
parents, Shannah and Raymond Rodriguez.
I encourage our south Florida community to lend their support to
these children and families who are battling cancer by attending
Bella's Ball. This lively event, Mr. Speaker, will take place Saturday,
September 10, at the JW Marriott Marquis.
Together, we can raise awareness in our community and finally end the
number one disease killer of children today: pediatric cancer.
