THE ORLANDO ATTACK WAS AN ACT OF HATE
(Mr. BILIRAKIS asked and was given permission to address the House
for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. BILIRAKIS. Mr. Speaker, I rise today with a heavy heart. This
past weekend, our Nation suffered a terrible attack in an Orlando
nightclub. This was an act of terror. This was an act of hate. This was
an unacceptable, unfathomable tragedy.
Our neighbors in Orlando remain in our thoughts and prayers. As we
mourn the tragic loss of life, we must stay laser-focused on rooting
out radicals in our Nation who heed the call to radical jihad and aim
to harm our friends, neighbors, and families.
We must provide law enforcement and intelligence officers the tools
they need within constitutional restraints to prevent the spread of
incitement to violence and to hunt down the radicals. Protecting our
homeland should never be taken for granted.
In light of this tragedy, we must unite and stand firm against the
evil in the world. Orlando, we are here for you.
