WEAR RED WEDNESDAY: BRING BACK OUR GIRLS
(Ms. WILSON of Florida asked and was given permission to address the
House for 1 minute.)
Ms. WILSON of Florida. Mr. Speaker, today is Wear Something Red
Wednesday to bring back our girls.
This week marks the second anniversary of the April 14, 2014,
kidnapping of the Nigerian Chibok schoolgirls, 730 days.
This week and next, Members of Congress will join us in commemorating
the tragic event that captured the world's attention and calling for
increased action to defeat Boko Haram, the world's deadliest terrorist
organization.
Members of Congress--Republicans and Democrats, men and women--have
all galvanized behind this cause. House leadership, including House
Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Conference Chair Cathy McMorris
Rodgers, have joined us in wearing something red on Wednesday to bring
attention to this cause.
I urge my colleagues and everyone to continue to lend their voices to
this cause and join us. We should never forget. We must never forget
the Nigerian Chibok girls.
For almost 2 years we have tweeted to raise awareness to this issue
in Congress, and we will continue to tweet, tweet, tweet
#bringbackourgirls. Tweet every day. Tweet, tweet, tweet
#bringbackourgirls.
