SUNY POTSDAM
The SPEAKER pro tempore. The Chair recognizes the gentlewoman from
New York (Ms. Stefanik) for 5 minutes.
Ms. STEFANIK. Mr. Speaker, today, I rise to celebrate a tremendous
milestone for a school in my district, the State University of New York
at Potsdam.
On March 25, 1816, the document that would establish what is now
known as SUNY Potsdam was signed, making it one of our Nation's first
50 colleges and the oldest institution in the SUNY system. Since that
time, this school has developed a well-deserved reputation for
providing a topflight education, especially in the liberal arts and
science fields, and is the proud home of the world-renowned Crane
School of Music, which I toured last year.
As the cochair of the Congressional STEAM Caucus, I am proud that
SUNY Potsdam is leading the way in incorporating the arts into the
traditional science, technology, engineering, and math curriculum.
Mr. Speaker, it is my honor to stand on the House floor today to
commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of SUNY Potsdam.
