HONORING OFFICER ASHLEY M. GUINDON
(Mr. CONNOLLY asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. CONNOLLY. Mr. Speaker, I rise to honor the life of Officer Ashley
Guindon, a law enforcement officer and Marine Corps Reserve veteran who
answered the call to serve her community and her country.
In her heart, Officer Guindon was a guardian. She was willing to step
into the breach to protect others.
On Saturday, February 27, one day, Mr. Speaker, after Officer Guindon
was sworn in as an officer with the Prince William County Police
Department, she did just that.
While responding to a call for help from a domestic violence victim,
Officer Guindon was shot and killed by a gunman who had already taken
the life of his wife, Crystal Hamilton, a loving mother who cared for
our Nation's wounded warriors.
I ask that my colleagues join me in mourning the victims of this
latest gun tragedy and, also, in paying tribute to the men and women in
law enforcement who give more to this world than they ever ask in
return. Mr. Speaker, we pray for their safety.
