CONTINUING THE CRUSADE AGAINST BOKO HARAM
(Ms. JACKSON LEE asked and was given permission to address the House
for 1 minute.)
Ms. JACKSON LEE. Madam Speaker, almost 2 years ago I led a bipartisan
delegation, the first congressional delegation, to Nigeria to assess
and address the crisis of Boko Haram.
At that time, it was in the immediate aftermath of the taking of the
Chibok girls in a previous administration. Boko Haram was doing the
kind of raiding and rabble-rousing that may have been part of burning
villages.
That time has now passed. And in the last 48 hours, Boko Haram poured
gasoline on children and burned them. Boko Haram has now become a
marauding and crusading, vile, evil, and vicious group. It takes in the
space and areas of Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, and Niger.
It is important for us, as Members of Congress working with the
administration, to call upon these nations to again collaborate and
work together.
They have pledged their support to ISIL. I am very glad that, in the
course of the Homeland Security Committee, Judiciary Committee,
Intelligence Committee, Armed Forces Committee, Boko Haram is not going
to get away.
There will not be boots on the ground, but we must stomp out Boko

Haram because they are killing children all in Africa and they are
dastardly committers of violence against civil society.
