                   EXPORT-IMPORT BANK REAUTHORIZATION

(Mr. GALLEGO asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute.)
Mr. GALLEGO. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to highlight an issue that
deserves our immediate attention: the Republican leadership's failure
to bring the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank to the House
floor for a vote.
The Ex-Im Bank plays a critical role in our economy, opening
international markets to U.S. businesses by facilitating the sale of
American goods and services overseas. The Bank evens the playing field
for American companies, enabling them to compete based on the quality
of their products, not on the financing term they can offer.
Allowing the Bank's authorization to expire will have real-world
consequences, Mr. Speaker. If we don't act, American businesses that
employ tens of thousands of our workers will struggle to survive in
this competitive global marketplace.
There is no question that there are enough votes in both the House
and the Senate to pass the Ex-Im Bank reauthorization at this point on
a bipartisan basis.
Mr. Speaker, for the sake of American businesses and workers, the
Republican leadership needs to stop playing to their out-of-touch base
and start

acting in the best interests of the American people by reauthorizing
the Ex-Im Bank immediately.
