THE PROTECT MEDICAL INNOVATION ACT
(Mr. ALLEN asked and was given permission to address the House for 1

minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. ALLEN. Mr. Speaker, for too long, Americans all across the Nation
have felt the devastating effects of the President's healthcare plan,
also known as ObamaCare. One of its many harmful provisions is the job-
killing medical device tax, a $30 billion tax hike on medical device
manufacturers that has crippled growth in this industry to pay for this
flawed program.
For this reason, I am proud to be an original cosponsor of H.R. 160,
the Protect Medical Innovation Act, which eliminates the 2.3 percent
excise tax imposed on the sale of medical devices by ObamaCare and
passed in the House on a bipartisan basis.
As we continue working for full repeal of ObamaCare, this is a step
in the right direction to eliminate this job-killing provision in
ObamaCare that hinders our economy and hurts patients' access to
quality care.
I encourage my colleagues in the Senate to quickly pass this
legislation to spur innovation and bring down healthcare costs.
