                     ANTI-SEMITISM AROUND THE WORLD

(Mr. WOLF asked and was given permission to address the House for 1
minute and to revise and extend his remarks.)
Mr. WOLF. Mr. Speaker, I rise to submit for the Record a statement on
my concerns about the troubling increase in anti-Semitism in the Middle
East, Europe, and, I regret to say, here in the United States,
particularly on college campuses in recent years.
Some have likened the freedom and safety of the Jewish people to
``the canary in the coal mine'' of a nation's religious freedom and
tolerance, meaning, if the Jewish population is threatened, so too will
others in time.
For the religious freedom and safety of all people, we must speak out
against these disturbing trends and anti-Semitic acts around the world.
I am also calling for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to update
the 2006 report on anti-Semitism on college campuses to review recent
trends and look at what recommendations, if any, have been implemented.
