MEASURE READ THE FIRST TIME--H.R. 4719
Mr. REID. Madam President, I understand H.R. 4719 has been received
from the House, is at the desk, and is due for a first reading.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. The Senator is correct.
The clerk will read the bill by title for the first time.
The legislative clerk read as follows:
A bill (H.R. 4719) to amend the Internal Revenue Code of
1986 to permanently extend and expand charitable deduction
for contributions of food inventory.
Mr. REID. I would ask for its second reading and object to my own
request.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Objection having been heard, the bill will be
read for the second time on the next legislative day.
Mr. REID. I suggest the absence of a quorum.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will call the roll.
The legislative clerk proceeded to call the roll.
Mr. REID. I ask unanimous consent that the order for the quorum call
be rescinded.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Without objection, it is so ordered.
