The nomination was confirmed.
Mr. McCAIN. Mr. President, earlier today, I voted against
confirmation for Theodore David Chuang to be U.S. district judge for
the District of Maryland because of his involvement in the State
Department's response to Congressional inquiries into the attack on the
U.S. Embassy in Benghazi, Libya. The State Department refused to comply
with a subpoena from the House Oversight and Government Reform
Committee without citing any valid privilege. I cannot support any
nominee who played a part in stonewalling attempts by Congress to
uncover the truth surrounding the events in Benghazi on September 11,
2012.
