MEASURES READ THE FIRST TIME--H.R. 3230 AND H.J. Res. 72
Mr. REID. Madam President, I understand there are two bills at the
desk due for their first reading.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will read the titles of the bill for
the first time.
The legislative clerk read as follows:
A bill (H.R. 3230) making continuing appropriations during
a Government shutdown to provide pay and allowances to
members of the reserve components of the Armed Forces who
perform inactive-duty training during such period.
A joint resolution (H.J. Res. 72) making continuing
appropriations for veterans benefits for fiscal year 2014,
and for other purposes.
Mr. REID. I now ask for a second reading, but object to my own
request for both of these measures.
The PRESIDING OFFICER. Objection is heard. The bills will be read for
the second time on the next legislative day.
