PRESIDENT OBAMA'S WAR ON AMERICAN ENERGY
(Mr. POE of Texas asked and was given permission to address the House
for 1 minute.)
Mr. POE of Texas. Mr. Speaker, today the President declared war on
America's energy. The administration issued an imperial-style edict
ordering the EPA, in essence, to shut down domestic energy: oil,
natural gas, and coal.
Never mind the consequences. By shutting down coal, for instance,
he's shutting down 37 percent of America's energy. But he doesn't care
that Congress has rejected this policy in the past. He just wants it
his way.
Well, he won't get it without a fight. I have introduced the Ensuring
Affordable Energy Act. This bill will put an end to the back-door,
monarch-style administration that ignores Congress and circumvents the
will of the people.
The bill would prohibit any EPA funds from being used to implement
the regulation of greenhouse gases. The White House's new war on energy
will only raise the costs for our families, cripple the economy, and
put Americans out of work.
This war is out of touch with the real world. It's a war against
America that Americans can't afford to lose.
And that's just the way it is.
