PRESIDENT OBAMA'S BUDGET
(Mr. BISHOP of Utah asked and was given permission to address the
House for 1 minute.)
Mr. BISHOP of Utah. Mr. Speaker, you can't spend more money than you
bring in. That's a fairly simple concept, isn't it? But apparently not
for Democrats who run the administration in Washington.
Under President Obama, we've had 4 years of government spending, each
year spending over $1 trillion more than we took in. That kind of
spending is not only irresponsible, it's dangerous. It drives up the
national debt, hurts families, neighbors, and our friends.
The time to rein in Washington spending is now, a concept so obvious
it has become a cliche. House Republicans understand this. That's why
we passed a responsible budget that keeps our taxes low and balances
spending. That's more money in your family's pocket.
The President is going to introduce a budget that doesn't balance and
tries to raise taxes again.
House Republicans know the way forward, a way forward to foster a
healthier economy and help create jobs. It's time for the President to
get serious about this issue as well.
