NOTIFYING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF THE ELECTION OF A
PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE U.S. SENATE
Mr. REID. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the Senate
proceed to the consideration of S. Res. 623.

The VICE PRESIDENT. The clerk will report the resolution by title.
The assistant legislative clerk read as follows:
A Resolution (S. Res. 623) notifying the President of the
United States of the election of a President pro tempore.
There being no objection, the Senate proceeded to consider the
resolution.
Mr. REID. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the resolution
be agreed to, and the motion to reconsider be laid upon the table, with
no intervening action or debate.
The VICE PRESIDENT. Without objection, it is so ordered.
The resolution (S. Res. 623) was agreed to, as follows:
S. Res. 623
Resolved, That the President of the United States be
notified of the election of the Honorable Patrick J. Leahy as
President of the Senate pro tempore.
Mr. REID. I suggest the absence of a quorum.
The VICE PRESIDENT. The clerk will call the roll.
The legislative clerk proceeded to call the roll.
Mr. SESSIONS. Mr. President, I ask unanimous consent that the order
for the quorum call be rescinded.
