SUPPORTING WIND PRODUCTION TAX CREDIT
(Ms. LEE of California asked and was given permission to address the
House for 1 minute.)
Ms. LEE of California. Mr. Speaker, let me thank Mr. Israel, Mr.
Connolly, and Mr. Tonko, as well as all of the members of the
Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition, for being such strong
advocates for a responsible and sustainable energy future.
Today I rise to speak in favor of the wind production tax credit and
urge my colleagues to support its extension. Wind power and other
sources of renewable energy are a vital and central part of a
sustainable energy future, and they can be harvested right here in
America.
In my own district, for example, I am very proud to say that there
are currently six companies operating wind power plants. These power
plants not only generate energy but also jobs and manufacturing right
here at home.
I urge this Congress to support the extension here because it will
put people to work in good paying jobs, help rebuild our manufacturing
base, and help us achieve energy independence.
