                  MEASURE READ THE FIRST TIME--S. 3429

  Mr. BENNET. Mr. President, I understand that S. 3429, introduced 
earlier today by Senator Bill Nelson, is at the desk. I ask for its 
first reading.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will reort the bill by title for the 
first time.
  The legislative clerk read as follows:

       A bill (S. 3429) to require the Secretary of Veterans 
     Affairs to establish a veterans jobs corps, and for other 
     purposes.

  Mr. BENNET. Mr. President, I ask for its second reading and object to 
my own request.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Objection having been heard, the bill will 
receive its second reading on the next legislative day.
