                        STATE SENATOR BOB BACON

(Mr. GARDNER asked and was given permission to address the House for
1 minute.)
Mr. GARDNER. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor and thank Colorado
State Senator Bob Bacon for his 14 years of service in the Colorado
State Legislature.
After serving for 6 years in the Colorado House of Representatives
and 8 years in the Colorado Senate, Bob is retiring from elected office
to uphold the Colorado State Legislature's commitment to term limits.
I had the opportunity to serve alongside Senator Bacon in the State
legislature and know that Coloradans will miss a true champion for
northern Colorado. As an educator for over 35 years, Senator Bacon's
insight into the classroom and education system helped shape the
policies that support Colorado students.
Senator Bacon served Coloradans well and has a genuine passion to
help the students and citizens of Colorado. He was twice elected to the
Poudre School District for the board of education before he served in
the State legislature, and his commitment and service were recognized
by the naming of Bacon Elementary School in Fort Collins in his honor.
Today, I would like to formally recognize Senator Bacon's outstanding
commitment and thank him for his hard work, dedication, and selfless
nature when serving the citizens of Larimer County and the students of
Colorado.
