        MEASURES PLACED ON THE CALENDAR--H.R. 1070 AND H.R. 1965

  Mr. MERKLEY. Mr. President, I understand there are two bills at the 
desk due for a second reading.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will read the bills for the second 
time.

       A bill (H.R. 1070) to amend the Securities Act of 1933 to 
     require the Securities and Exchange Commission to exempt a 
     certain class of securities from such Act.
       A bill (H.R. 1965) to amend the securities laws to 
     establish certain thresholds for shareholder registration, 
     and for other purposes.

  Mr. MERKLEY. Mr. President, I object to any further proceedings with 
respect to these bills en bloc.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. Objection having been heard, the bills will be 
placed on the calendar under rule XIV.
