                 MEASURE READ THE FIRST TIME--H.R. 1249

  Mr. REID. Mr. President, H.R. 1249 has been received from the House 
and is at the desk.
  The PRESIDING OFFICER. The clerk will read the bill by title for the 
first time.
  The assistant legislative clerk read as follows:

       A bill (H.R. 1249) to amend title 35, United States Code, 
     to provide for patent reform.

  Mr. REID. I ask for a second reading but object to my own request.
